How is Apple putting the “Apple Watch” app permanently on my iPhone different from Lenovo crippling their laptops with pre-installed adware?

@iljawascoding @myell0w the apple watch app doesn't permenently compromise all day at you send over the Internet, like health information

@mj_langford @myell0w It compromises my mobile computing experience just as unwanted popup ads do. Extra steps required to hide it away.

@iljawascoding @myell0w stocks app has been like this forever (+health +newsstand). They're stupid but not to the level you're saying

@mj_langford @myell0w These apps at least provided some kind of limited functionality without me having to purchasing extra hardware.

@iljawascoding @myell0w The Apple Watch is not running all the time, or? You can just hide it in a folder, along with the other system apps?

@smoofles @myell0w That’s what I did. Still Apple should not shove down ad apps down our throats.

@iljawascoding @myell0w Not sure Apple wants a situation where people buy a watch and have no idea how to connect it to the phone, though.

@smoofles Pretty sure Apple could have come up with a solution that doesn’t require an app on all iOS devices worldwide, if they wanted to.

@iljawascoding Sure, and make it potentially harder for people to find it and/or find out about Apple Watch. Not sure they want that. :)

@smoofles I like what they did with Apple TV 3. Should also work with watch: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT202788

@fafner Yeah, it’s definitely possible. I guess it has more to do with letting everyone know there’s an Apple Watch. In a clumsy way. :-/

@iljawascoding the apple watch app doesn't intercept ssl traffic and doesn't insert new ads into websites you visit.

@fafner True, but at least I can delete it or re-install Windows from scratch.

@iljawascoding really? It is an app. It doesn’t interfere with the functionality of the rest of the device. It isn’t a malware doing MITM.
