    The most pernicious myth in education is the idea of "math people." It was only when I realized that math was a skill like any other (i.e. you improve by doing it a lot) that I actually started getting better at it.

    13/Americans tend to believe that math is all about inborn ability. So instead of buckling down and working hard, we view math as an IQ test. So we do badly at it.
