    There’s no place like Alaska to show you how small you are + give you the proper respect for the power of nature. But it also grounds you in the environment—in a way you can’t experience in the city—and connects you to the Earth in a way that’s hard to equal in ‘the lower 48.’

    I’m going back to Alaska to shoot a new show for National Geographic. I didn’t think I’d ever say either half of that sentence again. I had some wild close-calls filming with my friends Ricko and Rod and didn’t know if I’d ever put myself in those deadly situations again.

    A good friend of mine (who’s served as a cinematographer on several of my projects) just lost BOTH of his parents to COVID. Look, I’m sick of thinking about this pandemic too … can we get real and end it together? We’re talking about the preventable deaths of real human beings.

    I am here for filmmakers taking massive risks and I do not care if I absolutely hate the result - I freaking LOVE they're charging down cement doors. That type of creative boldness has the best type of trickle down effect.
