I wonder how much of this is due to people not having the knowledge of history and civics they once, maybe, had. Life looks much better when compared to the past and other government options.

I also think that our leadership choices have not been that inspiring. If you don’t feel inspired to vote, then democracy is less appealing. And too many of us now see it as a disaster when their guy loses (tho maybe called for at times).
