How would you imagine peer review to be managed in this increased frequency of conferences? Or would they not be involved in publication?

Increased conference frequency doesn't necessarily mean a linearly increasing number of submissions. You still have the same number of people creating the same amount of research. The exception is re-submissions, which would increase. To scale peer review better... (1/n)

Apart from the Q&A would this be like a journal? Cons: no physically meeting new people, collaborations, talking to people after their talks, discussing with people about a topic. Yes, they can be done online too but the experience is vastly inferior and unproductive.

Why couldn't you meet new people and talk? I agree you wouldn't be "physically" meeting new people, but as someone who spends nearly 1 entire day a week taking back-to-back video chats it's really not that bad. I get to collaborate with people around the world.

But not enough chance to connect and discuss really. Physical presence is essential.

I connect and have very "real" discussions via video chat for 10+ hours a week with a wide group of collaborators around the world :)

Arguably CS conferences are about meeting people. Not about the talks or papers (you read them independently from attending). Until we get wide spread adoption of some sort of AR or VR I would not "attend" an online event. Video chats simply do not work enough for this usecase.
-
Why are video chats insufficient? Also, have you tried VRChat or RecRoom? I've found the experience to be quite intuitive.

I'm building a platform for running events just like this. Would love to see how we can help
#ArxivUnConf happen. Have DM'd you
-
is there any info on what that platform would look like, features, etc?
