Global market crash will likely not be fiat-only. While it’s nice to imagine a rapid flight to quality (massive buying of crypto to avoid crashing fiat/real estate/equity markets) when things go bad, people will likely sell crypto / retreat to the safety of cash.

- been scammed
- been dumped on
- woken up in complete shock

Xactly. High risk assets are sold first in a market crash.

Not just that, but until / unless most people can pay for daily life with <insert name of asset here> they will dump those assets during tough times in favor of money they can use to survive.

That's a huge assumption that cryptos are a hedge against equities. If I wanted to hedge the market, I would looking into VIX calls or defensive stocks, or even gold and maybe bitcoin. But your shitcoins on binance aren't gonna save you from a recession.
