Ok it's annoying me that people are treating incels as inherently violent. MOST are not. They might hold misogynist views but that doesn't make them all killers in training. Stop demonizing people who are already extremely messed up... Or anyone for that matter.

Well, that makes sense based on the demographic it attracts. The link isn't causal but the likelihood does go up based on risk factors.
-
Actually, 2009 not 2011. It was George Sodini that I was thinking of. Incel does seem to get a lot of guys who are at the end of their rope. I guess the question is, how to get men in these situations into something helpful rather than a toxic subculture.
-
It's about getting them to not define themselves based on others, right? The whole idea of celebacy being a bad thing is another thing that can be addressed. The whole term "incel" screams shame.
-
I'm really not sure this needle can be threaded. We live in a world that not only celebrates, but demands love, romance and sex. I don't think we can selectively tell X group of people not to define themselves based upon others when everybody else is doing just that.
-
Well, I was working with a group of polyamorous people who constantly gaslighted me because I'm monogamous. So I had to do it. The shame tactics were unreal.
-
I bet they were. (Not sarcasm). I'm not sure this is the same thing 'tho. These people are the "losers" in one of the main way that our society measures success and failure. I think the best we can do is try to help them not be "losers" in this game, although that's controversial
-
Thing is, this particular group were a bunch of sci fi nerds, so they were "losers" overcompensating.
