Dilla and Poyser created Neo-Soul. D'Angelo was the perfect vessel.

The way Dilla took jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal's "Swahililand" (1974) -8 minutes into the source record- and flipped it into De La Soul's "Stakes Is High" (another underrated Dilla production)... he was the greatest to do it.

I still geek out over the Tony Allen "Asiko" sample on Common's "Heat" - he's 1 of 1.

I can’t tell you how many times I shedded that MJ joint at home and in HS band trying to get it clean (4:33 especially)...but that Chaka record is one of my all time favs as a horn player. The band smashed the entire album too!

Chaka. I say this at least once every quarter. Everything about this song is right.

Like... the chemistry between John Robinson’s drums, Paulinho Da Costa’s percussion, and MJ’s beatboxing... they filled in each other’s spots PERFECTLY. Then add in the horns? Nigga pls.

Bruce Swedien is the man. He engineered the Off The Wall and Thriller albums to perfection

Music SOUNDS so shitty these days. Not even the content... just the quality of the recording. Idk what that’s about... I haven’t learned language for it yet. Everything just sounds so harsh.
