If anything, the trend seems to be moving in the opposite direction. And the incentives make it pretty obvious why.

Imho I don't think

I think other collateral will become popular as well; however, at this time, I do t have any reason to believe any of them will displace ETH. And certainly not in the near future.

As I see it, tokens are useful for cross chain functionality or governance. Projects which utilize tokens in this direction have done well. Projects looking to store value in a single chain with a token have not been as successful.
