I’ve seen more of this in last few years than in first 10 I lived here. Anecdata: Quality of life as high as ever. Foreign employers increasingly likely to be OK with remote over the Pacific or have local offices. It’s largely folks who would consider moving to London, and consider Tokyo a more interesting London with sharply less crime and markedly lower rents.

Availability is another question. Contingent on there being a large Japanese company in the mix issuance is almost certain; gets more dicey for other circumstances. (I am aware of startups getting it but don’t think 100% insurance like the base case.)
