Econ is people who believe mostly in free markets vs. people who are such zealots they think belief in market failure is communism.

They believe in a Keynesian mixed economy with extensive regulation, taxes etc. A slim majority is even for minimum wage increases.

'Mixed economy' seems strong. I can't think of a mainstream economist who advocates for state enterprises or nationalisation.

Not today but they did until 90s. Krugman's contingent also called for bank nationalization in 2009.

I'll grant that econ is more 'libertarian' today than it was in the recent past. Just note that mainstream view of USSR was cautiously +ve

Until the Berlin Wall fell. And 70s Nixon era obviously had wage and price controls as mainstream policy.
