Not true. He did, emphatically, repeatedly. He also condemned the communist rioters which was too much for American media.
I even see a few flags in New Jersey/New york (not urban country of course)

Yes, I've seen the KKK march through downtown New York. Hardly makes it mainstream American culture

Fair point. I concede. Just don't think it's necessary to inflame passions now. If it wasn't exactly mainstream, it was still ok.

I don't know what made Charlottesville so special. Even my university renamed its Confederate Memorial Hall without causing such a hoopla
