Ethnic kinship is also there with say Germans. Had no effect; they took Britain's side.

If it was all cousinship that mattered, then the world wars need not have happened. Germans and Anglo-Saxons are also somewhat kin.

Obviously that's not all that matters. If America was next door to Britain, I'd venture it would not be an ally.
