Yeah I go with @gcochran99 that this can't be the case. However, there's been some decrease for sure.

Whatever the reason, professors at top colleges tell me students are doing worse at simpler work than 20-30 years ago.

Selection criteria is also relaxed, so lot more people going to college.

Selectivity hasn't changed much recently for the top few schools in the country, minus slight growth in student body.
