If you're a self respecting Indian abroad, refrain from ever identifying yourself as a 'South Asian,'

The 'South Asian' label is maybe 50 years old, concocted by the US State Department, seeded into Area Studies programs in US universities.

Culturally it's most often used by commies, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and enemies of India as an umbrella term to gain respectability themselves.

Corollary - if you're an indian, refuse to join or serve in any associations/organizations that are titled 'South Asian.' Do NOT acquiesce to this bastardized identity.

Oddly enough, every Indian restaurant I visited in the UK was owned and operated by Bangladeshi or Pakistani origin folks. 😐

Yeah that's common knowledge. It's fine though as they are trying to pass off as India.

Used a lot in diaspora events to show as if we r one people. Mostly hindus fall for such a farce.

Yes exactly. That's what I'm counseling against - if Indians didn't go along with it, it wouldn't work.

Pakistanis mostly use “desi” and “south Asian” to refer to themselves when among goras so goras forget they’re Islamic terrorists. “Indian” Muslims get a free pass to call themselves Indian.
