the Macedonians. This does not imply a change in innate orientation but because in such societies its practice is cultivated from an early age it takes the place of a certain form of sexual self-stimulation or release that males in some animals like Homo & probably certain whales

typically need. If such practice is sustained over a period along with enforced bisexuality we might actually see the extended survival homosexuality, especially if there is some genetic predilection. That's how I see it in the Mogol tyrant Baboor, or Mahmud Ghaznavi, Khalji etc

if you dig
@Rjrasva 's posts you will find a listing of the behavior in Mohammedan society down to recent times some of which might not be safe for viewing in American work places.2 replies 1 retweet 1 like -

In contrast in societies like H where it received no encouragement unlike in their Mohammedan neighbors (post-occupation) it never rose in frequency -- an observation which did not miss the eyes of the English tyrants

True. So your point is that while the % of pop with a slight / strong genetic predilection towards it may remain stable over time, the # within that % who actually end up as homosexuals may vary depending on the society's attitude towards it

In US, more % of ppl from lower income report being LGBT, also more among blacks than whites. This is because it helps them raise status in society, as nowadays LGBT is deemed cool/woke in lib circles.

Yes. that's what is problematic about the claim that it is all nature. The tendency may in large part be genetic, but not everyone acts upon it. It may largely be subliminal in many people if there is no trigger to it from the society at large

What
@brahmaDanD says seems so in modern western societies; e.g. I am aware of a v.famous scientist who claimed he was gay to start but went on to stably marry and have multiple kids & remain so. Another Jewish academic suddenly claimed that she became lesbian for few years then1 reply 1 retweet 1 like -
lost and regained libido with preference for males. All of this needs more thorough investigation but looks mostly like gimmicks to look "cool and liberal" to me. However, my position is on nature side simply stating that under certain circumstance the frequencies can be jacked

I trust your judgment here...maybe it is primarily nature. But as I said not everyone with the "tendency" becomes gay. The trigger probably is largely environmental and cultural. I am reminded of the Rishyasringa story from MB, curiously :)
