This is a point I've been doubling down on with all of my clients. We *need* to document interactions with community members. It's not "gross" -- it's necessary for our teams to be successful. How else are we going to prove our value? #DevRel #CMgrhttps://twitter.com/DavidSpinks/status/1187163596934934528 …

Bonus: It's helpful for remembering where we met people, what their hobbies are, and who exactly lives in Chicago, programs in Python, and enjoys public speaking for when we need to recommend a community speaker to a meetup.

Bonus #2: When you leave your team (as most of us eventually do), you're not leaving them in the lurch. They've been building relationships with those community members right alongside you and they have all of the history to back it up.

This. SO MUCH this.

Trends = quantifiable data = a better product, more customers, more revenue, which in the end = more security for your team.
TL;DR: A CRM can lead to a more secure #DevRel team.

back at Unity we used Salesforce for that. It wasn't too pretty and was optimised for well sales and not devrel. Any tips on better solutions so far?

That's definitely an issue! The nice thing about tools like Salesforce is that if the company is willing to invest in them (which is sometimes a big if), they can be customized for your needs. Building DevRel-specific tooling into Salesforce or another CRM is essential.

The other alternative is using a product like
@Nimble, which has a Salesforce integration. Two important features I've noticed for DevRel teams is the CRM needs to be accessible on mobile as well as laptop & (ideally) everyone has separate logins to distinguish between notes.2 réponses 0 Retweet 3 j'aime
Thanks Mary! I haven't ever tried Nimble...
@Nimble do you have a nice talk or a video about yourself being used for something like #devrel?
