It’s really entertaining to me that in the space of a year the discourse of an entire industry shifted through the spectrum of “I get too much email!” to “I use slack because I get too much email” to “I sent it on email because I get too many messages on Slack”

As with meetings, I find asking “what is the desired outcome of this communication?” more often than not reveals that the communication should not take place

Going back to the start of the thread, one problem that is DEFINITELY not solved by greater quantity is transparency.

I’m pretty sure that for some of these “transparent” companies, they’re relying on the sheer quantity of shit they cram into their open “handbooks” to ensure no one reads critically into their practices

It becomes more fun as a company becomes public and has to be open and transparent in a business-clever way.
