I think I may have to frame this.

.@iPadInsightBlog got a replacement iPad Pro Magic Keyboard and says the new model isn’t having the battery life issues. Results may vary. For those trying to get a replacement, Apple support told me you have to send back the original unit first, then they’ll send a replacement. twitter.com/iPadInsightBlo…

The new Medication features look really well done the the AFib tracking features look to be really strong for those who need them. Apple continues to do a nice job evolving their health offerings.

I’m set up on the iPhone Upgrade Plan, so upgrading yearly has never been an issue. However, I am at least considering passing this year, paying off this phone and then selling it next year. Out of all this, I’m probably only getting the iPad Mini. It’s the biggest update.

Series 2 is the only Watch I haven’t purchased, but this one may be the second. Not getting paid to do this anymore has a lot to do with that, but this seems like a natural one hold off on with no major new features.

No keyboard solution, but that’s not really where this iPad is positioned. But the larger screen will work better with external Bluetooth models and a stand.
It’s funny how the devs on my timeline see it differently than you. I guess that whole “We’re fighting for all the little devs!” argument went out the window since they got a win today and you didn’t.

Today’s ruling isn't a win for developers or for consumers. Epic is fighting for fair competition among in-app payment methods and app stores for a billion consumers. twitter.com/markgurman/sta…

I never thought a single second of their carefully choreographed theater was genuine. However, it seems that their response to the court’s decision finally was. They didn’t get to put their App Store on iOS, so it was a loss for them. I hope all their appeals turn out the same.

Whatever anyone thinks about the change to the App Store, I’m really happy to see Epic and Tim Sweeney lose and that many people now see them for what they are. The fact that they see the decision as a loss says it all. They don’t give a damn about other devs and what they gained

I will be interested to see how many developers implement alternate payment systems. I will also be interested to find out how many customers see getting booted outside the App Store to a website that isn’t a Netflix or Amazon as a problem and won’t use them.
This is a surprise to you? Epic couldn’t give less of a damn about other developers beyond using them to prop up their arguments. They wanted their own App Store on iPhone and failed, so they did lose. Nothing else matters to Tim Sweeney.

Quite frankly, whole strategy is a total head scratcher. Epic PR should be positioning this as a win for themselves because they got a judge to make the biggest business model change to the App Store in its history. Instead of they are calling it a loss. twitter.com/markgurman/sta…

Apple isn’t “making” you do anything. Neither is any other tech company. You have agency. If you don’t like what Apple does, use it. Buy some cheap Bluetooth phones. Use a Lightning adapter. Dump Apple and go Android. No one HAS to buy AirPods. 🙄

Apple really removed the headphone jack from the iPhone, made us buy $160 wireless earbuds, and got away with it. This still haunts me, although I do love my AirPods.

The author also conveniently leaves out a pretty robust wireless earbuds market that Apple made mainstream and continues to lead. Not particularly innovative, but who else is running laps around them right now? Everyone is looking for the next thing and it just isn’t here yet.

Interesting. Apple picks the most random times to make big changes to App Store policies. They move like molasses in winter, but they eventually end up doing something.

Apple agrees to settle class-action lawsuit, will let developers directly contact customers, inform them about alternative purchase options outside iOS, more (Apple) apple.com/newsroom/2021/ techmeme.com/210826/p38#a21
