I felt the same BUT I know my age (50) & how I’ve been conditioned to respond to police - Firm but always in control - impacts my reaction. I was also struck by the fact that she said she was “scared” but she didn’t “present” as afraid. She was right tho. And they knew it.
Her fear was presented in anger/indignation. My mother is like that as am I. There was a tremble in her voice and it has to be scary to know at any point after walking in her home those huge men with weapons could have used any excuse to hurt those in her home or put them in jail

You are absolutely right. As a victim of trauma and abuse, I recognized it. I felt it the whole time I watched that. I cried, I mean really cried with relief when they left. But I also screamed with joy when she successfully shut the door behind them. She was amazing.

Unfortunately the presence of cops is always negative, if you’re Black their presence is a source of fear and anxiety. The unfortunate truth really.

I actually didn’t consciously feel that way UNLESS I was with my man. Cops acted differently when I was next to a black man vs encountering me alone. It was my man’s presence that unnerved them

I couldn’t agree more. She had the weight of the world on her shoulders during those few minutes to protect herself and everyone else in that home. I loved her all the more for owning that fear but not letting it get the best of her.
