ok look, the fact of the matter is these are currently unfounded allegations and everyone has a right to their opinion even if you disagree with it. we have a justice system for a reason. tweets do not merit the kind of response this has been getting. they are not facts,

this is not black and white. all she’s saying is that until charges are potentially laid, she will presume he is innocent until proven guilty. that’s how our law works here in Canada. the media has only shown one side of this and has been reporting things without properly
-
Not how the law works. That's how criminal law works. A finding of fact in criminal court is not necessary to reach your own conclusion. Only necessary for the state in deciding whether to lock someone up. We (as well as civil courts, journalists) can reach another conclusion.
-
yeah I know how it works thanks. but people’s opinions are not facts. if there were to be charges laid this would be a criminal case, therefore criminal law would apply. again, everything is hearsay without proof or actual charges.

-
You DO realize you're tweeting with a lawyer, right? Someone who's actually qualified and KNOWS what she's talking about and how things REALLY work, vs. you and how you HOPE things work.
-
literally all I said is that tweets are not necessarily factual, calm down.
-
We can read accounts vetted by journalists & assess the credibility of the women who have come forward. We can look to the volume of accounts & that too speaks to credibility. We can reach a conclusion in fact. We dont need courts to do this, certainly not a criminal standard.
-
yeah and who are we to judge anyone’s credibility? you don’t know these people, I don’t know these people. I never said anyone was lying. I never said Jacob was innocent. because I don’t know. and neither do you, or anyone else that wasn’t there.

kate graves is a hedley superfan and has been for years. why the hell is she being published by CBC??? i get its an “opinion” piece (which shouldnt even exist in circumstances like this) but it literally could not come from a more biased source....? trash.
-
Obviously it's biased. It's MY opinion and I'm a Hedley fan. That's the perspective I'm speaking from.
Also. Do I know You? -
yeah lol thats exactly what im saying......im confused as to why CBC gave you that platform. you have no background or expertise to give your “opinion” on whether someone is lying about their sexual assault, ESPECIALLY when you idolize the accused. also. hedleyonline

-
But... did you even read the article? Clearly not since I stayed away from mentioning about the allegations as much as I could. I was stating MY OPINION as a HEDLEY FAN! Not whether or not I think the accusations are true or not. It was to give a fans perspective.
-
i read it. guess who my favourite band has been for the past 10 years? brand new. guess who i never once sought to defend or denounce the victims of? jesse lacey. i know the shoes youre in. dont pretend this was anything other than an attempt to discredit victims and defend jake.
-
There were no hidden motives. What I wrote is what I meant. It's easy enough to discredit the allegations. I wanted my column to be exactly what it was. Sucks you're not a fan anymore. Though I don't remember being close to you on the forum.

-
“its easy enough to discredit the allegations” thanks for proving my point. good luck girl.
-
Your point is that my article did that. It didn't. It wasn't as biased as it could have been. Hedley has always been a good thing in my life. It will continue to be because for me personally they've given many more positives than negatives.

The me too movement has gone too far. And everyone knows this. This article is the other side of it. It’s fine for CBC to post both sides, it’s actually only fair that they do.
-
Posting an opinion piece on the CBC was a bad call. You don’t seem the doing the same for people accused of child porn, pedophilia, or any other crime. Why this?
-
People accused of these crimes have been investigated and charged. This was a trial by social media. There are many opinions on this subject. The majority seem to share the "innocent until proven guilty" opinion yet the media has refused to allow that discussion until now.
-
Actually if they have been accused they have not yet been investigated and charged. There is a double standard here whereas some are "Innocent until proven guilty" and others are to be shunned as soon as allegations are made.
