We started off today with Dr. Bikalpa Neupane's workshop "Into, In and Out of the PhDs," where he described his journey into academia and industry as well as the domains of human computer interaction and artificial intelligence!

We are so lucky to have Aderin Falana-Chaco, i3 Alumni Coordinator and 2015 i3 Alum, present a workshop on how to navigate health insurance for our 2019 Cohort. The pandemic may have delayed our in-person Concluding Institute, but we're so happy to finally reconnect again!

It's hard to believe we're already in Week 4! i3 Scholars have self-selected into their teams and are preparing for their research proposals. Yesterday Dr. Eikey facilitated team working sessions, and today Dr. Booth shared project management best practices!

Last week, we enjoyed Dr. James D. "Kip" Currier's workshop "We Are ALL Creators: IP Literacy Now!" Each year, Dr. Currier shares his experiences with law and ethics of information, data, and technology, intellectual property, & more with i3 Scholars.

Today in our Teaching Modules, i3 Scholars worked on posters and then presented 3-minute research proposal pitches connecting their interests to existing literature to epistemologies and research questions to methodologies and ethical considerations!

Yesterday Director Dr. Kayla Booth talked to us about graduate school and hosted a panel of people from our i3 community to share their experiences with master's and PhD programs.

We also welcomed back seven (one person not pictured) i3 Alumni from 2019 and 2018 who shared their insights and experiences with their teams and working on a yearlong research project. We are so grateful!

i3 2015 Alum Jarime Falana-Chaco facilitated a #Team & #ProjectManagement workshop where scholars engaged in a team-building exercise to build the tallest, free-standing structure. They will apply what they learned to selecting their research teams this week!

Scholars expressed their creativity through the design thinking process! After building empathy, we iteratively designed prototypes. At the close of Dr. Huff's workshop, we reflected on how the same prompt led to different designs and constraints & tensions in the design process.

Today we wrapped up our Research Advisor Workshops! Yesterday, Dr. Anthony Pinter presented "Behold the Once and Future Me: Identity Before, During, and After Life Transitions," and today Dr. Oshrat Ayalon presented "Youth Perceptions of Social Media Privacy."

So far, we also welcomed four amazing Research Advisors, Dr. Rea Simons, Drs. Caroline Stratton and Daniel Carter, and Dr. Ayse Gursoy. i3 Scholars will soon self-select into teams to work on yearlong research projects supported by these mentors!

Week 2 is in full force! We began our #ResearchDesign Module taught by Nisa Asgarali-Hoffman and Reginald Gardner and our #ComputationalThinking & Tools Module taught by Laura Dozal and Arcadio Matos. Asst. Director, Dr. , presented "Unintended Consequences in Context."

We've had an eventful couple days! Dr. talked to us about Health Informatics, Dr. David James showed us the link between Computer Science and Black music, software architect Jonathan Velez taught us about intelligent systems, and we did Mock Interviews!

i3 2022 begins! It wouldn’t be Day 1 without ’s “What are the Information Sciences? What are the iSchools?” workshop. We’ll continue to ask ourselves if an antelope is information throughout the month!
