Not only is this device a dystopian nightmare that, if it fails to verify that you've paid for it, will simply let your ass scrape along the pavement with no protection...but it's not even waterproof, so a heavy rain could also render you completely fucked.
For whatever reason, reviewers seem oblivious to this whole thing, instead praising its use of "AI" to "learn" how to better deploy the airbag (justifying the ongoing expense, apparently). They seem oddly resigned to the idea of an airbag with a monthly "be an airbag" DLC
Why the F do you have to pay 400USD and then 12 a month, what's the 400USD even for then?!?
Apparently the upfront $400 is for the airbag portion and the remaining subscription is for the "brains" or the controlling circuitry. Fundamentally all it is is just an artificially lowered price through financing, but with a weird shitty catch to nonpayment.

Thats got to be a huge legal risk. If the locking mechanism prevents it operating for a subscriber who has paid, that must expose them to being liable for potentially huge damages.
