Someone's tweets don't tell the whole story, but from what I can find, the last time @hughhewitt mentioned the national debt on Twitter was Feb. 6, 2019, and he said "I used to care" about it. Now that Trump is done, "we need a plan for the debt. soon"? https://twitter.com/hughhewitt/status/1093212418111492096 … https://twitter.com/hughhewitt/status/1350035249346932736 …pic.twitter.com/RYXvRwb7EZ

Conservatives/Republicans are set to further damage credibility by suddenly pivoting back to issues ignored for the last 4 years.

“Why let just Ds do it” might just be the most gaslit-iest part of Hughs entire gaslighting career.

He thought Republicans started running up deficits that added to the debt only recently and because they thought "why just let Ds do it?" when Democratic presidents lower the deficit and Republican presidents increase it?

Standard GOP response. They use the Democratic interbellum periods to stock up for the next bloodletting in favor of the wealthy. It is all part of a massive transfer of wealth. Of course everyone owns the National Debt, but few own the money.

Ya. So the key issue is who gets the money when debt is incurred. Is it for a productive next generation or for more expensive toys for a privileged few? Krugman’s data shows the different economic outcomes in Arguing with Zombies.
