I've worn several badges over my career. Each had a number. Each was unique (at least for the style/color--silver shields may denote one or two ranks, gold shields higher) to the owner.

I can actually understand the dox'ing issue/concern. People are crazy and we don't need vigilantes (we do need prosecutions of abusive LEO). At least these still have "Portland" on their uniforms. The nameless federal forces are the real problem.
