    Rachel Larris Retweeted Ivanka Trump

It's interesting Ivanka picked this example because the thing Jefferson's enemies were accusing him of -- fathering a child with a slave -- was absolutely something he did. 6 times as a matter of fact. Jefferson was bemoaning being called out for something he actually did.https://twitter.com/IvankaTrump/status/1189928762370142208 …

“…surrounded by enemies and spies catching and perverting every word that falls from my lips or flows from my pen, and inventing where facts fail them.” -Thomas Jefferson’s reflections on Washington, D.C. in a letter to his daughter Martha. Some things never change, dad!

Also Jefferson's daughter Martha never really knew how to treat her slave-born half-siblings. Martha had a complicated relationship with her dad. Sort of like Shiv's with Logan's on Succession.

Just another kismet relationship of one presidential-daughter with a deeply subservient relationship to a tyrant patriarch to another.

(I have no idea what specific thing Jefferson was moaning about to Martha in that letter, it might not have been the issue of her half-siblings, which she knew who fathered them. But his slave-born children were the most famous political scandal in Jefferson's presidential term.)

Because I love to give credit to the pop culture that helps me remember history it's @ERBofHistory why I remembered Jefferson had "six babies with your slave mama" (not just the one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-ZblMfZpuw …

History isn’t important to them. The quote fit her narrative and that’s as far as the shallow girl got.
