Sorry to say that #Venom is pretty much a complete failure - a tonal mess that feels 15 years old, ignoring the storytelling strides that the superhero genre has made in recent years.
A few fun Venom-centric moments aside, it has nearly nothing to offer. Don't get your hopes up.

The only point I see it succeeding in any manner is that warlock relationship that Hardy has with the symbiote. That's pure Shakespeare an drama there that seems in line with what we saw in Taboo. Hopefully.

Define tonal mess please. Infinity War had tonal shifts all around the movie and nobody said anything, you know why? Because it doesn't matter if a movie has dark and humor in the same movie. Only picky critics.

A movie can have darkness and humor, some of my favorites do, but in Venom, I found myself laughing at the seriousness and not at the jokes.
That's a problem that comes down to the script and direction, a problem Infinity War didn't have.
