Spoke today with the Ted Hull, the superintendent of Northern Neck Regional Jail, where Paul Manafort is being held. He's been pushing back on the idea that "VIP — what Manafort was classified as — means what it means outside of jail. See prev. from NBC:

Hull said the term "VIP" means the unit houses one, at most two, inmates, as opposed to other units that can house dozens of inmates. Otherwise there is no "qualitative" difference, he said.
