Local Fox anchors bash black student who got into 20 colleges

The anchors received backlash after they called 17-year-old Michael Brown's decision to apply to 20 colleges "obnoxious." Brown applied to 20 top schools and got a full-ride-scholarship to all of them.

Micheal Brown, a Texan teenager, applied to 20 colleges and got into all of them.

This doesn’t “take a space or a scholarship” away from ANYONE. Yale isn’t going to suddenly enroll only 1,499 freshmen or only give $4,950,000 in financial aid if this kid goes to Stanford instead. This is straight up, poorly coded, bigotry.

Not only do you have to pay for the applications but you must write essays for each of these schools, many times, esp. prestigious colleges such as these 2-3 essays. Very time consuming and nerve wracking. It's a shame on them.

For those who don't know or don't believe this concept, the anchors are displaying a good example of a microaggression. Trust me on it, as someone who was told on a number of occasions in my youth that I was "the smartest Black person" met by friends, faculty, etc.

Michael Brown, I wish you would’ve applied to 30 schools. Keep shining- you’re an inspiration to black and brown kids all over. Perhaps you could call it a representation of the fact so many of us have to work twice as hard to get half of what others get...
