Many of the survivors I spoke to in Florida want more far reaching commitments- including a ban on assault rifles and concrete ways to prevent guns from getting into the hands of people struggling with mental illness.
With students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School watching from the gallery, the Florida House of Representatives votes 36-71 to turn down a motion that would have allowed a House vote on an assault weapons ban.
