A wolf went on the loose after escaping from its enclosure at the Wolf Conservation Trust's site in Berkshire, England, during high winds. People were warned to stay indoors until it was recaptured.

Children in Beenham, Berkshire have been warned not to go outside after a wolf escaped from a sanctuary near a school.

Two obvious points from this escaped wolf story: • Are we sure "the wind" blew down the fence? Wolves have form when it comes to blowing down wooden structures. • Building a wolf sanctuary right next to a primary school seems an interesting choice.

At around 8am today the force received a call reporting a wolf had escaped from a sanctuary in Picklepythe Lane, Beenham. The wolf moved to Curridge where it was safely detained by officers and staff from the sanctuary, who had been working to recapture it.

Thank you to everyone in the community for your patience and understanding while we were dealing with the incident. Schools, which were asked to keep pupils indoors, no longer need to do this.
