Trump on controversial DACA remarks: 'This was not the language used'

Politics January 12, 2018
President Trump defended himself after reports surfaced of him referring to Caribbean and African nations as "shithole countries" during an immigration reform meeting on Thursday.

The so-called bipartisan DACA deal presented yesterday to myself and a group of Republican Senators and Congressmen was a big step backwards. Wall was not properly funded, Chain & Lottery were made worse and USA would be forced to take large numbers of people from high crime.....

....countries which are doing badly. I want a merit based system of immigration and people who will help take our country to the next level. I want safety and security for our people. I want to stop the massive inflow of drugs. I want to fund our military, not do a Dem defund....

....Because of the Democrats not being interested in life and safety, DACA has now taken a big step backwards. The Dems will threaten “shutdown,” but what they are really doing is shutting down our military, at a time we need it most. Get smart, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used. What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made - a big setback for DACA!

Sadly, Democrats want to stop paying our troops and government workers in order to give a sweetheart deal, not a fair deal, for DACA. Take care of our Military, and our Country, FIRST!

Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. Never said “take them out.” Made up by Dems. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians. Probably should record future meetings - unfortunately, no trust!

NEW: For the first time, President Trump directly addresses reports that he referred to Caribbean & African nations as "s---hole countries" in a WH meeting on immigration reform. Reaction to the report here:

Non-denial denial, as in ‘the story as reported is wrong’.

Initial response from White House: not a denial. Trump now: denial.

Except that what Haiti is like as a country doesn’t matter because the only way Haitians could have come up during this meeting is in context of Haitians _who have lived in US for years_

Here are the latest new rules, just in! 1. You are morally obligated to pretend all countries are the same and none of them is worse than any of the others, except America, which is the worst of all 2. No saying dirty words in private meetings!

What precisely did you say Mr President? Let us have that as a matter of public record. There is likely a transcript of the meeting per the Presidential Records Act. There is probably a recording of the meeting as well.

It’s not the shithole comment that has the media & Dems “outraged”. It’s the fact that Trump supports American sovereignty & as President has the right both constitutionally & under existing law to decide for any reason to stop immigration from anywhere.

Notably, Republicans who were in Oval at the time like and have not denied Trump said “shithole countries”

Trump 3 days ago: “My positions are going to be what the people in this room come up with... If they come to me with things I'm not in love with, I'm going to do it, because I respect them.”

The White House did not deny that Trump called Haiti and African nations "shithole countries" in an Oval Office meeting.
