"Steve Jobs made things we didn't know we wanted." That's not exactly true. People wanted to listen to MP3s on the go before the iPod.

Steve Jobs was good at: - finding an up-trending behavior - identifying the gaps - making stuff that gave us progress within existing trend

identifying the gaps and shipping so early that everyone laughed at the first version. He’d won the market by the third version

MP3s were the existing trend. Having to download them illegally on spammy sites like Limewire was the gap. iTunes was the solution.

A successful product is rarely something "we didn't know we wanted." Successful products give us the progress we already desire.

If I ask you: "is there existing demand for the progress your product provides?" And you say: "no, it's totally new!" That's a bad sign.
