Puerto Rico governor Ricardo Rosselló resigns following days of protests

The embattled governor announced in a Facebook Live message late Wednesday that he will resign as of 5pm on August 2. Rosselló's announcement came after widespread protests as journalist @DavidBegnaud confirmed that he had physically left the governor’s mansion.

Irma is now a tropical storm, strong winds and rain continue across Florida

The hurricane, currently with winds of 70 mph, is expected to weaken further as it continues to move inland, the National Hurricane Center said. Millions of people are still without power after the storm made landfall in Florida over the weekend.
