John Medlar's Fascist Connections

That time I threaded about the fascist and white supremacist connections of Proud Boy and Boston Free Speech's John Medlar.

The other day, I discussed Boston Free Speech's connections to racist/fascist groups, but so far, no one from has responded. So today, I'll be talking all about their leader, @JohnnyMedlar, and his *personal* connections to bona fide hate groups. <thread>

You see, @JohnnyMedlar, the main organizer of , is a member of the Proud Boys. I'd tag the Proud Boys and their founder, Gavin McInnes, but they got kicked off Twitter a month ago. Why? For being a hate group.

If you're new to this stuff, here's the 's writeup of the Proud Boys:

And @JohnnyMedlar is *deep* into the Proud Boys. He's written for Proud Boy magazine. Note he uses the (((echoes))) to refer to Jews, a meme started by neo-Nazi podcast The Daily Shoah. I'd tag them, but they got kicked off Twitter for being racist.

He also organized a Proud Boys event for Patriots' Day 2018, at which Unite the Right 2 speaker Jovi Val was an honored guest.

In fact, here's a video of Unite the Right 2 speaker Jovi Val giving a speech at the Proud Boys reception that followed @JohnnyMedlar's Patriots Day rally:

This is @JohnnyMedlar in the Proud Boys' signature black-and-yellow polo, giving a speech at the same event.

That video, by the way? It's from the YouTube of Gabriel Brown, a white nationalist who attended the first Unite the Right in Charlottesville. That's Brown below (right), with the "Crying Nazi" Christopher Cantwell. I'd tag Chris, but he was kicked off Twitter. You know why.

(The helicopter logo in the above photo? It's a reference to Pinochet dropping anti-fascists from helicopters. Today is the 45th anniversary of the CIA-backed coup in 1973 that killed democratically elected President Salvatore Allende. ¡Viva el pueblo! ¡Vivan los trabajadores!)

Back to the topic of -- you can't look at one of @JohnnyMedlar's associates without coming across a white nationalist.

Remember the "It's okay to be white" stickers that popped up around Boston last fall? That was Ary Ziegler, Medlar's fellow Proud Boy and member.

Ary Ziegler admits to posting the "It's okay to be white" signs at 1:18:10 in this livestream of a from Medlar. Also, jfc, nice work doxxing your friend, @JohnnyMedlar:

If you want some history on how "It's okay to be white" crypto-Nazi propaganda, had a good roundup here:

@JohnnyMedlar gives an extended defense of the signs at 1:19:18:

Here's my point-- scratch *any* associate of @JohnnyMedlar's, and a Nazi will bleed. Just look at his Facebook friends list. This is a random screenshot, and there's two members of , Matt Smaller (also a Blue Bloc member) and Connor Raymond aka Chris Hood.

Let's go through this screenshot, person-by-person. They're all fascists.

Top-right is Jen Loh, a co-organizer of the National March Against Far-Left Violence. The screenshot above is her inciting violence against anti-fascist protesters in Portland on 8/4/18.

Middle-left is Salvatore Holiday, Proud Boy and anti-Semitic piece of shit. Here's a selection of the stuff he posts-- anti-Semitic cartoons that he likes so much he *reposts* them.

Middle-right is Matt Smaller, who, as we covered two days ago, is a member of and . Smaller's also an anti-Semite who uses the (((echoes))) just like his buddy @JohnnyMedlar. But in case you forgot:

Bottom-left is spokesman , who apparently just talks to white supremacist and Holocaust denier Augustus Invictus. (P.S. @JohnnyMedlar invited Invictus to speak at the Boston Free Speech rally in August 2017.)

BONUS screenshot, where he cheers on Holocaust denier Augustus Invictus.

Finally, bottom-right is Unite the Right 2 speaker Jovi Val. Unite the fucking Right 2, folks.

Here's my point-- this goes *way* beyond support for free speech @JohnnyMedlar and are personally and materially connected to all kinds of fascists, and it's important to document that.

Anyway, tagging some folks who might be interested in this. @RIagainsth8

Another day, another well-documented exposé on why “Boston Free Speech” is about hatred and crypto-fascism and not free speech.

I guess Boston Free Speech has more than just the one member who isn't merely an innocuous free speech advocate! cc
