When looking to publish the collection, Veil was ignored or turned down by every publisher she approached. She turned to then relatively novel Kickstarter, asking for $8,000 to help cover the costs of printing 2,000 books. She ended up raising $51,615. inputmag.com/culture/pictur

In an email exchange with the author of this article in 2014, Veil came clean on the book-burning: Everyone who paid at least $15 had received a copy. The ones that were set on fire were damaged or misprints that couldn’t be shipped.
