German government says Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a nerve agent

Live

Toxicological exams performed on the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny showed the presence of a chemical nerve agent from the Novichok group, according to the German government. Navalny, a critic of Vladimir Putin, fell ill on August 20 and has been in an induced coma ever since. The substance used to poison Navalny is chemically similar to the nerve agent that was used to target a former Russian spy in Salisbury, England in 2018.
