This is literally nails on a chalkboard, the chop itself is very demeaning to Indigenous people, their story/history and their continued struggle. If Native peoples tell you that they are offended, and that this is racist then it is the exact opposite of honouring them.

  14. I grew up in Kansas. My high school mascot was the "Indians". Growing up, we were taught not to question the genocide and erasure these sports teams embodied. This is disgusting. This is not just a game, this is racism.

I am a Kansas City football fan. I want the name, mascot, and all that comes with it to change. I want it even more than a Super Bowl win.

Fellow black people, we hate being racialized as we should. Let's make sure we are consistent and have that same energy regarding the Indigenous community. Let's not racialize them and let's not stand for others doing it either!

For the first time in my life, I’m not going to watch the SuperBowl. Partly due to the New England era robbing the NFL of creativity, but mostly racist crap like this.

NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, one of several American sports teams that copy Native American imagery and traditions, will take the field for Super Bowl LIV. How did the team, which was founded in 1959, come to have such a loaded name?
