 This budget focuses on freedom for teachers. Freedom for parents. And freedom for all students.

  8. In ’s budget, there are major cuts to programs like the Special Olympics. Sec. DeVos didn’t know the number of kids who would be hurt by that cut, so I made sure she now knows that 272,000 kids are seeing their support taken away.

  15. I cannot think of a more disheartening piece of news. I have covered the Special Olympics. It is amazing. This is not about politics, it is about who and what we value as a nation. This is absolutely disgraceful.

    While Trump and his enablers cut taxes on the wealthy and corporations, they're cutting funding for programs like the Special Olympics to pay for it. They are literally taking from the most vulnerable in society to line the pockets of their donors.

  17. Some the most uplifting, inspiring, good-for-the-soul days on this job have been when I’ve had a chance to get close to Special Olympics athletes. This is heartbreaking and infuriating. It is also not a political tweet. It’s a human one.
