LazyTown star Stefán Karl Stefánsson dies aged 43
Stefán Karl Stefánsson, who played villain Robbie Rotten in children's television series LazyTown, has died from cancer. A song from the show, We Are Number One, became a massive internet meme as part of an online campaign to help him and his family with medical expenses after he made his diagnosis public.

As great as he was in his role, it's important to remember Stefan Karl was more than just Robbie Rotten. He was a father, husband and genuinely good person who just wanted to help others. He ran a charity against bullying and did volunteer work even after his diagnosis.

He entertained me as a kid, and he entertained me now. He shone as Robbie Rotten in LazyTown, embraced the memes of We Are Number One, and seemed a wonderful man. He played a great relatable character and was a greater man. He’ll always be Number 1 😢

One of my favourite shows as a kid was lazytown, and I always loved Robbie Rotten. Years later, the characters legacy was cemented with memes. Unfortunately though, Stefan Stefansson, the man who played him, has passed away. Rest easy Stefan, you were always number one

I might not have had a lot of familiarity with LazyTown before the memes, but I'm sure this man was an integral part of a lot of childhoods, and his devotion to his work despite his meme status is legendary.
