With the help of the internet, police link random car part to fatal hit-and-run
While investigating the fatal hit-and-run of a cyclist, Washington State Patrol officer Johnna Batiste () shared a photo of the lone piece of physical evidence from the vehicle involved in the deadly collision. Some cross-collaboration on the internet narrowed down the broken car part and led to the arrest of a suspect.

WSP is investigating a felony hit and run collision at SR7/320th. A bicyclist was struck and killed sometime between 0830-0930 this morning. If you or someone you know witnessed this collision please call WSP. NB tracffic is blocked and getting by in the center turn lane.

The roadway is open SR7/320th. Troopers and detectives are still looking for a black vehicle believed to be involved in this mornings tragic bicyclist fatality. If you know anything regarding this collision, please call the Washing State Patrol.

WSP detectives made an arrest today for Thursday’s fatal bicyclist hit and run in Eatonville. Reddit users identify a photographed broken car part as a mid 1980s Chevy truck headlight assembly. Local anonymous tip confirms and led to the arrest of a driver of an 1986 Chevy K-10.
