Armstrong, like Schaaf, is also inflating the amount of work CHP is doing and can do. They are only operating during weekends, subject to their own personnel availability. THey worked for eight hours Sunday, and wrapped up before midnight.

Regardless, Armstrong seemed to avoid the reality that CHP is operating independently, doing traffic stops and etc without OPD participation or supervision.

On the Z issue, Bas says she wants to see numbers and analysis from City Admin about whether it is true they'll go below Z. She says the City's hiring plan, which made it into budget, did not foresee that happening.

Fife says she will also want to have answers about staffing levels and recent attrition rates at the meeting. CAO says they will have to coordinate that with OPD and City staff.

On possibility of new academy for OPD, Bas says she'll want to hear how OPD is doing on its budget, and whether it went over budget for the last FY [it did] before she makes a decision on that. Will expect that in report, expects oral report.

Parker also says that incoming Homelessness Administrator Latonda Simmons seems determined and focused on doing a better job with homeless than in the past.
