It is safe as it is limited to 13.56MHz with max power about 1.5W with safety like dynamic power output

Dual SMA are required because the NFC chipset works with fully differential antenna which is two time better than single ended antenna/NFC receiver (but also more complex to design)

Does it still work that far with microprocessor cards? like credit or transport card. Any tests with ISO14443-B ? thank you.

It really depends on the tags but in theory they shall works at more than 12cm too like TypeA/Mifare... if you have some references to buy for tests or if you can provide some tags you are welcome

Put this in front of a parabolic dish at the focal point and see how you go.
