I love that transformative and transitional justice concepts are being engaged with more broadly. But so many of them failed, perpetuated harm, or contributed to impunity. Not just in SA, but also in Rwanda, Liberia, and Nepal.

This is not the project for a couple of DA’s and SK. What are you going to do with stories you collect & wounds you reopen? How are you going to protect victims? What does justice look like in cities w/ qualified immunity, bloated police budgets, & unaddressed social inequality?

To me it looks like what SK does best, an exploitation of black pain w/ no plan for change. An early lesson I learned from practicing human rights law - storytelling alone doesn’t do it. The plan for change and redistribution shouldn't be an afterthought. It should be the center
