we should have thoughtful conversations as an industry abt business models - even when they're critical. But when people are quick to critique companies they're not invested in, & silent abt their own learnings/investments, I wonder abt their motivations.

Agree, but think there’s a diff btwn pre-mortem teardowns & fostering conversation around a specific point that can benefit related co’s (Also, haven’t been in the vc game for long enough, but try to bring lessons from operating failure(s) - even more valuable front row seat :))

sure, & then use examples from your portfolio. Or public co. Otherwise it's performative. & if it's "confidential" or "the founder's story to tell" (as to why you don't talk openly about stuff you work on), then maybe consider you don't know full story on someone else's shit
