    I’ve seen a lot of things that make me think the bar for a candidate to call themselves “fluent” in another language is very low. Seems to often be applied in cases where another person might say “I speak some ...” and not “I’m fluent.”

    Two things strike me about this video. One if that is fluent in Spanish, which seems useful. The other is that he can eat tacos without apparently dropping any on his white shirt-which I personally find almost impossible.

    Is it more common internationally for mayors to become credible presidential candidates? Duterte in the Phillipines was previously mayor of Davao City. Mexico’s AMLO led Mexico City. The 2nd place finisher in Brazil last year was the ex-mayor of São Paulo.
