Inspired from the Canon Cat(1987)'s LEAP™ key, we've implemented its functionality in our text editor to replace the old ctrl+f way of looking for text.

Functionality:
Holding down the alt key in Left, will save each character into the find buffer, and will jump to the prev/next instance of that string on alt-release.

Are there any other editors you know of that feature LEAP functionality? Are you the first and only outside of the Canon Cat?

Not that I know of.
Also, I'm not a 100% sure about this I heard that Canon Cat was written in forth? I don't know that many other text-editors written in forth either.

Ooooh saw this on YT yesterday I think. Will you abstract it out to see data across other apps (LEAP did this I think?) or remain in the editor for now? I’m fascinated by common data access and interfacing (PalmOS, etc).

I think it's as far as we can take this, but we'll see. :)

Very cool.
I use ⌘E ⌘G all the time on macOS which is a bit similar (E populates the find buffer and G/⇧G jumps to next/prev match.)

This is nice, it's a bit similar to what you would find with C-x f (find-file) to go to a file and C-s (isearch) to search a file, in Emacs =)
