When exactly does it have any advantage over plain HTML files ? I see the cool in this but it seems very ugly for no upside.

It's a choice we made, we could update the navigation/routing of all the pages, by hand, across all 70 pages, whenever we made a new post, but that's just something we prefer to have automated.

I'm curious as to why you chose assembly/C99 and not another higher-level compiled language? Is there any specific reason?

We don't have much experience with most of them, but we do have half a mind to use Go for a project or two. More on this as the year goes on.

Are you considering using C -> webassembly for interactive web projects?

It's in the cards, but lately we've been toying with one very silly idea. 6502asm to webassembly, we're porting our apps to the NES anyways, it would be neat to ship them online through a tiny emulator. Just something that we have written on a postit on the wall.
