For racial stirring up offences where likelihood limb still exists (as opposed to other offences that are intent only) I can see the argument. But what is the strong argument for those offences where intent to stir up hatred has to proven beyond reasonable doubt?

Idealism is good in some circumstances but practicalities need to be thought through .. you could tie up the courts for decades never mind ‘he said she said’ cases... who exactly are you trying to target with all this ? Feels like an onslaught on whole society

It depends on your definition of "stirring up hatred". If I'm having a conversation with my family about the paedophilia rife within Islam, and its probable cause - ie. the paedophilic prophet, does this count? It was a good conversation, but I don't think any hate was stirred.
-
What evidence do you have that 'paedophilia' is any more prevalent within Islam than any other collective group, whether religious or otherwise? NB: I put the term paedophilia in inverted commas because I think what we are really talking about is childhood sexual abuse.

So your speech against white people, that can be deemed as hate speech, should you be arrested?

Well if that is the way Yousaf wants to do things in this country, I feel that comments such as his tweet here MUST be prosecuted on the basis that is stirring up hatred across Scotland - against this hate filled bill.

Take pride in having posted the most moronic tweet of the week. I mean well done.

Deeply offensive as it is sitting around the house ‘intentionally stirring up hatred’ against anyone, unless hateful action is taken or they go public and try to recruit others isn’t it all a bit ‘I saw goody Proctor dancing with the devil’?
-
Also how does this impact survivors of high control religious groups that need to meet and discuss their trauma? They may well feel hatred towards their former religion. When does criticism cross into hate, who decides that?
