Years ago, I was in the final stages of an interview process when I got a horrible flu: delirious, 104 fever, etc. My final interview was the day after I got super sick, and I didn’t know what to do because I really wanted the job, but could barely stand up.

My mom gave me great advice, told me to call, tell them I was very sick, and reschedule. First of all, she said, no one wants to sit with you in a room and catch this flu. But more importantly, it was a great test of how the company treated people.

Do you think some of the unreasonable requirements happen when companies hire a recruiting firm and that recruiting firm is trying to justify their involvement?
